Short Description
In Windows 10, how to access a full list of system tray icons with INSERT + F11 without getting the “Notification Chevron” in the list when using JAWS or Fusion
Problem
By default, Windows 10 limits the number of icons that appear in the system tray. Icons that don’t appear are located in an overflow area accessed by choosing the “Notification Chevron Button”. For JAWS users, it is much better to change a Windows setting so that all icons appear in the system tray. This way, when pressing INSERT+F11 or using the Voice Assistant command, “system tray”, all the items will appear in the list. This is much more efficient for keyboard users.
Solution
How to add system tray icons to the notification area in Windows 10:
- Press the WINDWS key.
- Type “select which”.
In the results list, "Select which icons appear on the taskbar" will be selected. - Press ENTER to open these Settings.
"Always show all icons in the notification area". will be in focus and is off by default. - Press SPACEBAR to turn it on.
- Press ALT+F4 to close Settings.
- Now do INSERT+F11.
Arrow down the list to note all the system tray items you can now access quickly!
