Technical Support - Detail
Short Description
Problem
JAWS settings can be customized using the Startup Wizard, Settings Center, or scripts. But it is easy to quickly toggle back to factory JAWS default settings when desired. Any or all application-specific settings that have been created can also be turned off or deleted.
Solution
How to restore JAWS factory default settings:
- Press INSERT+J to open the JAWS menu.
- Press O to open the Options submenu.
- Press M to open Manage Application Settings. The Application Settings list box will be in focus, with the first item, “DEFAULTS”, selected.
- If the box is checked, press the SPACEBAR to uncheck it, in order to use the JAWS factory default configuration.
- When done, press TAB to navigate to the OK button and press ENTER.
NOTE: “DEFAULTS” will be the only item in the Application Settings list box if no application-specific configurations have been created.
How to turn off or delete JAWS application-specific configurations:
Except for “DEFAULTS”, all other items in the Application Settings list box represent configurations for specific applications. A check in the check box preceding the application name indicates that the customized configuration is being used for that application.
- To turn off customized settings for a specific application, navigate to that item in the Applications Settings list box and remove the checkmark. The customized setting can be used again by checking the same box.
- To delete a customized setting, select the item in the list and then press TAB to navigate to the Remove Selected button.
- The Enable All button can be used to quickly check all check boxes.
- The Disable All button can be used to quickly uncheck all checkboxes.
- Navigate to the OK button when done and press ENTER.
