(TypeAbility) TypeAbility dialog. Type your full name here dialog. Good afternoon! And welcome.

(Liz) Okay so the first thing you have is the welcome screen where you can go ahead and type your name so I am going to do that.

(T) L i z space w.

(L) I’m going to press ENTER, TypeAbility.

(T) Liz, You have seven more openings of TypeAbility…

(L) Okay so I am here at the main screen and we can do a number of things. And I’m just kind of going to show you a few of the features and how they work. So one of the first things you might want to do is go ahead and pick a lesson. I’m going to do that by pressing F3 twice quickly. That is going to will bring up the list of the lessons here in TypeAbility.

(T) Liz, This is the pick a lesson or task dialog and it contains a list of the keyboarding lessons and games. So, just arrow to the lesson or game you want, and press enter to start it. You’re now at the top of the list. On the very first lesson, it teaches the function keys. But if you wish.

(L) Okay, so as you can see there’s a lot of information here, a lot of tutorial information it gives you. I’m going to press DOWN ARROW.

(T) Level 1. 2 new letters from the Home Row. A, s, d, f, j, k, l closed.

(L) Okay. I’m going to press ENTER to open this lesson and just do a couple of tasks, I’m not gonna complete the whole lesson of course but I'm going to press ENTER.

(T) Enter. Lesson 2, new letters, from the home row. A, S, D, F, J, K, L. All right! In this lesson, you will be learning how to type letters in the home row. The home row is two rows above the bottom row of the keyboard. So, to find the home row, just find the space bar, and then move up two rows. You will then be on the home row. Okay Liz! Now type the keys, f, then space.

(L) OK, so again, it gives you a lot of information you can change that in the user preferences how much information it gives you. So I’m gonna go ahead and press the letter F then space.

(T) F. Yes? Space. Good! Again! Type F then space.

(L) And then it repeats, it has you perform each task four times so I’m going to do it again.

(T) F. Right? Space. Good! Again.

(L) I’m going to make a mistake here and show you what happens.

(T) D. Uh-uh! But you’re really close. Type F! That’s F! As in Frank! All righty then! Now press the space. Space. You got it! One last time Liz.

(L) And let’s do that one more time.

(T) F. Good? Space. Well done! Now type the keys J, then space. J is the first letter of the name.

(L) It just gives you different tasks to perform and it talks you through those tasks. Now, other things we can do here in TypeAbility, we can press F6 twice quickly

(T) F6. This is the pick an academic subject dialog.

(L) Here is a list of academic subjects that we can choose and we have quizzes that we can actually use, again the practical use of the typing skills so you can choose. You can DOWN ARROW to a subject.

(T) Geography closed.

(L) Press RIGHT ARROW.

(T) Opened. Geography.

(L) And then DOWN ARROW through the different choices.

(T) Level 2. Capitals. One of two.

(L) And if I wanted to choose that I could press enter to go ahead and choose that quiz. I’m going to press ESC to get out of that.

(T) Escape. Dialog closed.

(L) Now we’re back. Now another feature is the ability for teachers to create lessons. So to do that, you will press F11 twice quickly.

(T) F10.

(L) Sorry.

(T) Teacher’s mode. Now pressing f3 or f4 twice quickly will allow you to run the lessons that your teacher created. Or, if you are a teacher, you can now create your own lessons by pressing F3, or F4, twice quickly.

(L) So this is where you can access lessons that teachers have created or you can also create lessons for your students. I’m going to press F11 twice again to get out of that.

(T) from,,.

(L) And finally if you want to get the results for a student‘s typing results, you can press F12 twice quickly.

(T) F12. Liz progress report dialog! Well! Liz has not completed anything in this session of TypeAbility. However, to view all of Liz’s previous progress records, in every TypeAbility four session, just press escape to close this dialog, and then press F12, three times quickly and a document will open that contains Liz’s complete history.

(L) Ok, so, I haven’t actually completed any lessons here in this session but I have previously so we would press escape if we wanted to see all of the results for a student. So far, you can press F12 three times and then it will open a notepad document, a text document in Notepad. I’m going to press ESC.

(T) Escape. Dialog closed.

(L) And finally you can access the preference menu, user preference menu, by pressing CTRL and the letter U, uniform.

(T) User Preferences dialog. List box. Humor young. Default mode. User likes hearing children’s humor.

(L) So here we have a lot of different options. We have the humor options.

(T) Humor adult.

(L) We have.

(T) Typing experience little. Default mode. Key location are thoroughly given.

(L) So now here, you can set how much experience a student has. You can set the rate that JAWS speaks during the TypeAbility sessions, so there are just a number of preferences here that you can set. So press ESC.

(T) Escape. Dialog closed.

(L) And to exit TypeAbility you press ESC three times quickly.

(T) See you! Desktop. Folder view list view.

(L) And now we’re back at the desktop.
