(Narrator) Associating Sounds with Words or Phrases

In this lesson use the word "important" and assign a sound like "metal ding" to play whenever the word is encountered.

NOTE: If you do not specify the same word in both the Actual Word and Replacement Word edit boxes, the sound is played INSTEAD OF the word (i.e., the sound replaces the word).

1. In WordPad type a sentence with the word important in it, and then put the cursor inside the word "important." I typed " Today is an important day for the company."

2. Open Dictionary Manager by pressing INSERT+D from within WordPad. The title bar of Dictionary manager should read WordPad.jdf.

(JAWS) Add… button.

3. (N) Activate the Add button by pressing ENTER. The Add Dictionary Definition dialog box opens. Focus is in the Actual Word edit box. Notice that since the cursor was within the word "important," the Dictionary manager has populated the edit box with the word for you.
